People of LMS: Sergey Podolsky

20.01.2022

Today, in our People of LMS section we are talking to Sergey Podolsky, Project Manager of the Perm State Art Gallery, about the uniqueness of the facility, the prospects for the company’s development and construction experience.

Tell us what you do in Limak Marash, your area of activity, functions, position.

I am the Project Manager of the Perm State Art Gallery. I am responsible for the development of design and construction documentation, interaction with project customers and coordination of project solutions with state expertise authorities. I purchase special materials and equipment for the facility. I also monitor the implementation dates and the budget for the construction of the gallery.

How did your career in the construction industry begin?

As for my first higher education I majored in Applied Mathematics. I started working in the construction sector in Baku (Azerbaijan) when I was the second-year student.
In 2008, after moving to Moscow, I entered the RUDN to study Management of Construction Production. At the time of admission, I was working for a major construction company, where I got practical knowledge and skills of an international level.
Throughout my career, I continue to constantly study and improve my professional qualifications: I soak up new knowledge like a sponge, each time being surprised that I need to learn so many things. After all, a builder, like a doctor, needs to study all his life.
Since 2021 I have been studying at the NRU MGSU for the MBA degree in construction.

Where did you work before LMS?

I started my professional career as a draftsman in the design department of British Petroleum in 2005. From 2008 to 2020, I worked at Crocus Group. During this period, I moved up the ladder from a design engineer to a project manager.
I have been working in the Limak Marash Group of Companies since 2021.

Tell us about your experience in previous projects.

I have extensive experience in implementing large-scale projects, ranging from Kaliningrad (construction of stadiums for the 2018 FIFA World Cup) to Vladivostok (development and construction of the entire turnkey infrastructure on Russky Island, construction of more than 1.5 million m2). I want to note that every project I have participated in is unique!

When did you start working in LMS? What projects did you manage/participate in and in what position?

In January 2021, I was invited to an interview at Limakmarashstroy, LLC. At that time, I already knew about the Turkish international construction giant Limak Group (ranked 61st in the TOP 250 of the international rating of construction companies). At the interview, I learned that Limak Group and the Russian company Marashstroy, combining their capabilities, established the Limak Marash Group of Companies in 2015.
It was with great pleasure that I agreed to be interviewed and it was right!
The implementation of the project under my supervision (Perm Art Gallery) makes me really satisfied and provides an excellent opportunity for career growth.

Why are the processes in your business unique?

The uniqueness of the Perm State Art Gallery construction project lies in the fact that, in addition to performing turnkey construction work, we are engaged in modifying the design documentation for this facility.
This allows the company to optimize the cost of materials and resources spent.

Share your successful cases. Do you implement your own developments, technologies that allow you to improve the quality and efficiency of your work?

As my teacher used to say: "Everything has been invented a long time ago — there is no need to reinvent the wheel." It is necessary to use efficient and proven technologies, improving and adapting them to the needs of the project. This is exactly what our team does.

How do you see the development of your direction in the company?

Given the speed of development of the company and the number of current tenders, I am sure we will always have new projects for implementation.
The course of development is determined directly by the coordinator and the founders of the company, whom the employees trust and support in their decisions.

What prospects does LMS have, in your opinion?

From personal experience, I can say that no company in the territory of the Russian Federation has a more qualified team than that of Limak Marash Group. That is why we have no other option but to become one of the best construction companies in Russia and secure a leading position for years to come.
